Phones, Drones, and Automobiles: Cross-Platform Digital Forensics

Written by Will Elder | Apr 14, 2022 5:00:00 PM

Getting the "big picture" of a case is challenging when digital forensic data is spread across different disparate evidence types or a large of media sources. Experts from several leading forensic companies shared best practices for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on evidence from multiple mobile phones, a drone, and several vehicles used in a fictional homicide investigation related to suspected fentanyl trafficking. The speakers were:

  • Rich Frawley, Director of Training, ADF Solutions.
  • Sam Blackburn, Chief of Forensics, Truxton Forensics
  • Dave Ryberg, Director of Sales, Truxton Forensics
  • Ben LeMere, CEO, Berla

Experts from ADF Solutions, Berla, and Truxton Forensics provided live demonstrations to guide investigators through rapid evidence collection, rapid analysis, and a simple process to bring all of your forensic results together in a clear, easy-to-understand report.

The 1-day seminar featured hands-on demonstrations of the latest collection tools for each category, and showed attendees how to quickly collect, aggregate, correlate, and deliver comprehensive reports and analyses to make solving these cases easier and more efficient.

ADF Solutions, a leader in targeted computer and phone forensics, showcased the latest features of Digital Evidence Investigator PRO to triage multiple iOS and Android phones and loose media collected from recreational drones. Rich Frawley demonstrated instant mobile preview and the easy-to-use Screenshot Capabilities of DEI PRO. Mobile Screenshots are automatically run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) thereby making textual evidence within captured images available to investigators for search.

Berla, the world leader in automotive forensics, provided an in-depth demonstration of iVe to identify, acquire and analyze the digital data that can be typically collected from late-model vehicles, including tracklogs, Bluetooth, and infotainment information.

Truxton Forensics demonstrated how to bring a wide variety of digital evidence together in a single platform to allow analysts and investigators to quickly correlate evidence across multi-device data while automatically delivering a variety of reports related to an Investigation, Media Summary, and Artifacts for analysis. Attendees also learned how to use Truxton to create visual timelines, export geographic data, and share with other users at multiple locations.
