- Eligible Applicants: BJA has two application tracks
- State agencies – Chief state law enforcement agencies
- Local agencies – BJA designates eligible local jurisdictions based on population & crime stats each year, these agencies are eligible to apply for this grant
- The eligible agencies list stays fairly consistent
- All other local agencies – state agencies are to pass a portion of their funding on to local jurisdictions, including those who weren’t eligible to apply
- Sponsoring Agency: FEMA
- Intent: Help state and local agencies prevent, prepare and respond to threats against public safety & disasters.
- Eligible Applicant: FEMA releases this application to state governments, state agencies that are authorized to apply are listed FEMA's website. State agencies will apply for projects that benefit multiple state agencies
- States pass through a portion of the funding they receive to local jurisdictions. Local emergency management agencies and police departments are typically the ones who apply at the local level.
